Beatha Light
‘Beatha’ translates to ‘Breathe’.
This light was designed as a floor lamp to breathe life into a mundane office reception. The intention was to bring the outside inside with dappled light effects, life lines and natural materials. The totem like structure stands at 1.6m tall.

ReCreation Runway
1:20 working prototype
Photographed by Tony Sernack
ReCreation began as a visual merchandising venture for a hair design
business undergoing a process of
re-branding and evolved as an
investigation into the socio-cultural ritual of hairdressing.
There is more to hairdressing than
the oft’ assumed vanity of an
individual. These works explore the relationship of an intimate space
(the body) and public performance
(the visible).
A part of a larger investigation into
the notion of ‘hair dressing’ from
Prehistoric times through to now.
The Performance begins with a
spot-light on single figure ‘dropping’
in to the ‘womb’, fading in and out to
the sound of a heart beat.
The dancers enter in nude suits -naked as we came- and emerge with the
body adornment as they shed their old/ grow a new ‘skin’. The figures
come out from the incubator like
form as “Recreated” beings of the
new branding.

Reignite
Sustainable street art and lighting proposal.
Made from laser cut and formed stainless steel with solar powered lighting system. The motif around the base is a manipulated graphic from
a photograph taken from inside a monument in Macquarie Place, Sydney.
The image has been made to be viewed on the round with 360o viewing points.
Influenced by the concept of moths being drawn to a flame, the motif also includes illusions of moths being drawn up from the ground to the light source.
The intention is to drawn more people to the laneways of Sydney and Reignite the
cityscape. The diffused lamp reduces light pollution and is programed to turn on automatically in response to the dimming natural sunlught.
Insert - Touch sensitive wearable LED light sources. Hand cut and formed
anondized aluminum on PVC cord. With future technology these wearable
devices will interact with the street lamps, acting as personal lights to navigate through the city and activate the lamps. The city will have a dynamic mapping of firefly like lights leading to the active laneways of Sydney
